"The Earth"

The story 'The Earth' has been written by H.F.Bates. He was born in 1905 in England. He was a Well-known short story writer. He worked sometime as a journalist. His famous work are 'The purple plain', 'The scarlet sword', 'fair stood the wind for france'& 'The Darling Buds of May'.
In this story, Bates has described a story of a poor farmer named Johnson his wife and his abnormal minded son named Benjy. Jonson took 4 acre land on rent & had been farming for 40 years from a man Sanders. A doctor suggested Jonson to keep Benjy busy with hens. Firstly Benjy had 10-12 hens. He left his school at 14. His father was also a local preacher who gave lecture specially on Sundays. His parents gave the passbook to Benjy at 21. One day suddenly the land was for sale & Benjy bought from Sanders because he became very rich now. Benjy  married one of his labourers named Florence at who had thick legs, loose lips and reflecting  grey eyes because of that their parent didn't like Florence.
                         At last, Benjy left his parents in downtown because his wife and his mother started quarrelling. Such a great writer died in 1974.
