The Artist is a very fine story written by Shiga Naoya. He is known as a short story writer.
In this present a, The author tells about a Japanese talented boy named Seibei. He lives in Harbour town. He was a twelve years old boy. He had hobby for collecting gourds. His Father always chides him for it. He wandered about the town for looking gourds. One day he found in the class-room polishing gourds. The teacher complains against him to his mother.
One gourds that he purchases 10 Sen after working on it. It is sold in 600 Yen. When his comes and knows all events. He beats Seibei enough. He Smashes all collected gourds with hammer. Seibei becomes sad. He change his art and started painting picture. His father again chides for painting picture.
At last,
This story shows how to adult world changes such talent. The child of art should not be damaged.
